About me, my career and oriental dance in general
I always enjoyed sports: in younger years I was very good at apparatus gymnastics, volleyball and later on jazz-dance. There were several early occasions I presented something
sportive in public. Then I learned the usual standard dances and tried out Rock’n’Roll for two years - but I grew to tall and so had to look for something new. When I had to quit volleyball due to injury it
happened that a colleague of mine in the office started her first teaching in oriental dance and asked me to come along. That was the beginning of it all: in 1995. Ever since I stayed connected to Mid Eastern Dances.
Today I take regular lessons with Sahéla (Studio Bodywave in Wesel) and also dance for a couple of years with Mona Okon (Orientalisches Tanzparadies Mülheim/Ruhr). Of course I take any opportunity for
workshops to improve my style. Here I prefer and cordially advise any lessons with Beata & Horacio, Raksan, Hoda Ibrahim and Jillina to mention a few. Presently I deeply enjoy classes by Ariellah, Tempest and
Sashi, like in UK - so to dig into the darker side of bellydance ^^v^^ A special challenge is a troupe performence: if you are performing as a solo artist nobody might realize when you do not stick to a
choreography - assuming there is one in the first place! But you have to concentrate a lot more and success doubles when shared with co-dancers. So I do both: I perform on my own and for some years as a member of
the troupe “Maymunaâ€, currently there’s no troupe *sigh*. I already organized big stage shows: always advisable if you have the energy and nerves to invest! So in short: oriental dance is great fun, very
volatile and deeply enjoyable. It is of course feminine and sexy, the fine line to porn should be considered. However: if you know the basics, enjoy the Eastern music and relax from any heavy workload or daily
stress and give yourself to the smooth and energetic movements of oriental dance!
If your perform with joy, love and happiness the audience will feel it and love you in return! Simply: enjoy.
